In Y3 we learned how to use a bilingual dictionary. We looked at how the dictionary was structured, and how it uses colour to help you find the right section. It has all the words in French first in the first half of the book. In the second half of the book, the words are in English first. We practised sorting words alphabetically, then played “stop the bus” to practise looking words up quickly. Then we used an “I spy” sheet to look up some French nouns & to write them down in our charts.
In Y4,5 and 6 we learned how about the subject pronouns il and elle ( he and she or it), and how to say he / she is ( il / elle est) and he / she has ( il / elle a). Then we used these to describe someone and created some fabulous “Wanted” posters !
